Gustav Larsson was appointed by the City of Sunnyvale to the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency in January 2014. The city provides water to its urban industrial and residential customers. California Water Service Company also serves several small areas within the city.
Mr. Larsson was elected to the City Council in 2013, and was appointed as Vice Mayor on January 2016. He serves on the VTA Policy Advisory Committee and the Grand Boulevard Initiative Task Force as city alternate representative.
Prior to his election, Mr. Larsson’s community involvement included working with a neighborhood to resolve traffic, parking and privacy concerns caused by a medical clinic’s expansion in 2008. The result is a beautiful new clinic that provides vital services to the community of Sunnyvale.
Mr. Larsson was appointed to the Sunnyvale Planning Commission in 2010 and served as Chair in 2012-13. During his 3 . years on the Commission, he was heavily involved in developing the Lawrence Station Area Plan as a Citizen Advisory Group member. This plan will encourage transit-oriented development around Sunnyvale’s Lawrence Caltrain station.
Mr. Larsson is an avid member of Sunnyvale Rotary. He served as a Rotary Team Advisor for the Enterprise Leadership Conference in 2013 where he enjoyed teaching business skills to high school students.
Mr. Larsson is a software engineer with Ciena Corporation. He attended Stanford University for undergraduate studies in Symbolic Systems. He is a 15-year resident of Sunnyvale and has lived in the South Bay since 1985.
