Ms. Matichak is a member of the Mountain View City Council. She was elected to the City Council in November 2016 and began her first term in January 2017. She was re-elected in November 2020 and began her second term in January 2021. She served as Vice Mayor in 2018, and Mayor in 2019.
Prior to being elected to the Council, Ms. Matichak served on the Mountain View Environmental Planning Commission from 2010 through 2016, serving as Chair in 2013 and Vice Chair in 2012.
Ms. Matichak’s current and past Council Committee assignments include: Council Finance/Investment Review Committee (2017–present), Council Transportation Committee (2017-present), Council Policy and Procedures Committee (2019-present), Council Appointments Review Committee (2018-2020), and Council Neighborhoods Committee (2017-2018).
Some of her current assignments outside of the Council include: Rancho San Antonio County Park and Open Space Preserve Stakeholder Working Group (Jan. 2017-present), Santa Clara County Airport Land Use Commission (Nov. 2018-present), and Silicon Valley Regional Interoperability Authority (Dec. 2018-present).

Ms. Matichak’s professional background includes 10 years in the cybersecurity industry, and over 20 years in strategic planning and marketing in the management consulting and technology industries.
