Tom Chambers was appointed by the Westborough Water District to the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency. The district supplies water and sewer service to approximately 4,000 residential and commercial connections west of Interstate 280 in South San Francisco.
Mr. Chambers moved to Westborough in May 1976 and was elected to the Board of Westborough Water District in November 1997. He was President of the Board in 2001, 2005 2010 and 2014 and has served on the Budget, Capital Improvements, and Public Relations Committees. He also represents Westborough at the California Special Districts Association, San Mateo County Chapter, meetings.
A native born Californian, Mr. Chambers grew up in Southern California, receiving his B.A. in Economics and Physics from UC San Diego. He served as a Supply Corps officer in the Navy from 1970 through 1991. His Bay Area tours included USS Thomas A. Edison (SSBN 610) while in overhaul at Mare Island, USS Enterprise (CVN 65) while home ported in Alameda, and shore tours at NAS Moffett Field, NSC Oakland and Aviation Division at NAS Alameda. After his military retirement, Mr. Chambers entered the teaching profession. He is currently a math teacher and Mathematics Department Chair at Lowell High School in San Francisco.
In addition to his bachelor’s degree, Mr. Chambers has two Masters degrees, one in OperationsResearch/Systems Analysis from Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, and another in Secondary Education from San Francisco State University.
