Negin Ashoori is the Senior Water Resources Engineer for the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA), which comprises the 26 utilities that purchase water from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) for resale to their local service areas. BAWSCA represents its members’ collective interests in their relationship with the SFPUC on matters related to water supply, facility reliability, operations, water quality and wholesale water rates.
Negin is responsible for supporting BAWSCA’s technical and policy-level water resources work. She participates in several conservation efforts and in overseeing SFPUC’s water supply planning, operation and maintenance activities associated with the San Francisco Regional Water System. Negin also provides support in the development of water demand projections, allocation of SFPUC supply during a drought, and analysis of new water supplies for the BAWSCA agencies, including water transfers, groundwater, desalination, recycled water, and water conservation. Her other duties include management of consultants, budget coordination, and preparation of BAWSCA board materials.
Negin joined BAWSCA in September 2019. Previously, she served as a Fulbright Scholar in Lille, France working on smart city systems and was a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University where she worked on various water management projects. Negin has a Ph.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, an M.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Tufts University, and a B.S. in Biological Sciences and B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
